The short answer

Carigalta IP registers your trademark before IMPI end to end: availability search, Nice class strategy, filing, office action and opposition responses, and follow-up until you receive the certificate. The official IMPI fee is MXN 2,813.77 per class for online filings (2026, VAT included), and an application without objections usually takes 4 to 8 months.

How we work

  1. You message us on WhatsApp or email with the name or logo and what your business does.
  2. Free preliminary search: we tell you whether we see risk, and why.
  3. Fixed written quote: professional fees and IMPI fees itemized separately, no surprises.
  4. We file, and from that day you hold a priority date.
  5. We keep you posted on every movement of the file until the certificate issues.

Cost and timeline

The cost has two parts: official IMPI fees (MXN 2,813.77 per class online, VAT included) and our professional fees, quoted as a fixed amount based on the number of classes. Office actions or oppositions are quoted separately, and we tell you before we lift a finger. The full breakdown is in trademark registration costs in Mexico.

Without objections, IMPI usually decides in 4 to 8 months. Office actions or oppositions extend it. What matters: your filing date protects you from day one against anyone who files later.

Trademark, commercial slogan and trade name

A trademark distinguishes goods or services. A commercial slogan (aviso comercial) protects an advertising phrase. A trade name protects the name of your establishment. Many companies need more than one; we tell you which are worth it and which aren't.

Outside Mexico?

A Mexican registration only protects you in Mexico. If you sell or plan to sell abroad, we coordinate filings before the USPTO (United States) and the EUIPO (European Union), or several countries at once through the Madrid Protocol.

Frequently asked questions

Can we file a trademark in Mexico ourselves?

Mexican applicants can file without a lawyer, but foreign applicants need an address for service in Mexico, and the hard part isn't filing: it's choosing the right classes, avoiding similar marks and answering IMPI's office actions correctly. That's where most self-filed applications are lost.

Do we need to be using the mark to register it?

No. In Mexico you can register before use. But after the third year of grant you must declare use, or the registration lapses.

Whose name should the trademark be filed in?

The real owner of the business: the company or the individual who owns it. Never the agency, the designer, a distributor or a partner who could leave.

Do you work with clients outside Mexico City?

Yes. We work with clients across Mexico and abroad; IMPI filings are online, and we report in English.
